Abstract
This website details one man's journey to regain control of his computer system. For too long, his system had been under third party control; he was able to access the system, manipulate files, execute programs, but he felt deep down that there was something not quite right about the state the system was in.
After much deliberation, the author discovered what was wrong: he no longer fully understood how his system worked. Although he was adept at controlling the system's functions, there were large areas which still appeared almost mystical. He resolved to remedy the situation, by building a new custom operating system which was configured to his own specifications.
